Unionista Access Structure
“Guest”: A member of the public that has limited and restricted access to logged out content of our Digital Properties.
“User”: A currently registered member of a Trade Union, Association, Federation, or similar membership organisation (“Union”) that has been provided with free login access to areas of our Digital Properties, as displayed and applicable. This includes but is not limited to access to private and hidden groups, forums, audio and/or broadcasts and other content specifically relating to their registered Union.
Any content posted on Our Digital Properties only expresses the views of the content author and does not necessarily reflect the views of Us or those of Our group and/or forum administrators and moderators. We, nor any person or entity We use to provide our Digital Properties, will be held responsible for the content, accuracy, completeness or validity of any information posted by Guests or Users.
Any User who believes that any posted content is objectionable, either as harassment, inappropriate, misinformation, offensive or suspicious is encouraged to contact the moderators immediately by clicking the “report” link located in the relevant objectionable content. We will make every effort to review reported comments and take appropriate action within a reasonable period of time. Since this is a manual process, you are advised that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
By accessing Our Digital Properties either as a guest or user, you hereby agree to the following statements:
You will not use Our Digital Properties to post any material, or links to any material, which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy or which would violate any law.

You will use your real name (and Union affiliation for Users only on your account) and will not impersonate another person or organisation when posting on Our Digital Properties.
You will not restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying Our Digital Properties.
We reserve the right to edit, move or delete any material posted on Our Digital Properties for reasons of clarity, or to ensure Unionista is as useful as possible, at our sole discretion.
We reserve the right to edit and/or remove objectionable messages, or those which we have received complaint reports about from other guests and/or users.
We reserve the right to ban or restrict guests and/or users who we judge to be abusing Our Digital Properties, or who do not adhere to their obligations above, and remove any or all of their posts from Our Digital Properties, without appeal.
We reserve the right to change the structure or features of Our Digital Properties, or to add or remove groups, forums, topics or other content as instructed by your Union, or when We deem appropriate.
Copyright and reproduction of content
In contributing to Our Digital Properties, you agree that you do not retain copyright of the work, and that We have the right to publish it. No one shall, without Our prior consent transmit, reproduce or store any of the material from Our Digital Properties on any other web site or incorporate or reproduce any material in any database whether electronic, manual or printed form. Comments
When guests or users add comments to Our digital properties We collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. If you are a logged in user, after submission of your comment, your profile picture is only visible to other users in your union or organisation’s community and Our central Unionista group (for all registered users) in the context of your comment and not to guest users of our digital properties.
Media
If you upload audio/visual media to Our digital properties, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Other registered users of Our digital properties can download and extract any location data from images.
What kinds of data do we collect?
We may collect a variety of personal data from you, as part of your interactions with Us. Not all personal data is required but may include:

Your employer,
The organisation you are a member of that has registered you to use Unionista,

What We do with your data
We use your information under Our legitimate interests to help Us understand how Our digital properties are effectively serving Our users and to make improvements. We use Google Analytics software to analyse Our digital performance or to assess the popularity of Our campaigns.

We use your information to fulfil any contract you make with Us and supply you with the information or services that you want to use. This may include for example joining a mailing list or creating an account or personal profile page. If you do not want Us to contact you by any of these means, please indicate this within your account or let Us know by contacting us here. Please note that We may not be able to continue to provide specific services to you if you request that We do not contact you.
We store data on preferences that you submit to Us, or from campaign actions you take with Us, to help Us send you information that more closely matches your interests, or to follow up on issues you have been involved in.
We want to ensure you only hear from Us if you still want Us to do so. You can unsubscribe from any email that We send, and We will aim to unsubscribe you ourselves after two years if you do not update your details, reconsent to contacts, or respond to Our emails in that time. We will aim to delete inactive accounts after five years if you haven’t logged in or taken activity with Us in that time. Should We be notified that your membership with your Organisation has expired or been terminated for any reason, We will immediately terminate your user registration on Our digital properties and your access to Our digital properties will revert to guest status.
We may also contact you, or permit selected third parties (such as your Organisation) to contact you, by post, telephone, SMS text message and e-mail about other goods or services which you may be interested in at their sole discretion. We will only do this if you have explicitly consented to it by opting in through your account profile.
Sometimes We will be obliged to process your personal information due to legal obligations which are binding on Us. We will only ever do so when strictly necessary.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on Our digital properties may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We may need to disclose your information to regulatory bodies, government bodies, or law enforcement agencies. This will be upon request only, and only when required to do so in order to satisfy legal obligations which are binding on Us.
Storing your information and security
The information you provide to Us via our digital properties will be stored and processed on servers based in the UK and/or European Economic Area (EEA). However, during our operations (including, without limitation, providing you with other Services, via SMS text message, message boards or in storing email and other communications between you and Us) We may transfer your personal data to Our service providers who are based outside of the UK and/or EEA. By submitting your personal data, you agree that We may transfer, store and process your information outside of the UK and/or EEA. We will require Our service providers who process your personal data to keep it safe and secure in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.
We make use of data processor services not otherwise mentioned in this policy to deliver functionality as part of Our services.

However, you acknowledge that communications sent via the Internet cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Cookies
If you post content on Our digital properties you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you post other content. These cookies will last for one year.
When you visit Our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in to Our digital properties, We will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Children’s data

If your personal information changes or you find that any of the information that We hold about you is inaccurate, please advise Us of the relevant changes as soon as possible by clearly stating the changes you require:

Third party websites
Our Privacy Policy only applies to digital properties owned and operated by Us. If you follow a link from Our digital properties to a third party, you will no longer be covered by this policy. We are not responsible for the collection of your personal data by third parties, so please make sure you check the privacy policy of any third party before you submit any personal data to them.
Permissions requested by the Unionista App
If you use the Unionista app, you will need to approve permissions for using your device’s functionality in order for it to work properly. Here’s what the app will ask for and why We need it:
Camera
Used for permissions that are associated with accessing camera or capturing images/video from the device. This permission allows the application to capture images/video for the user to upload to Our digital properties.
Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use Our services, We collect data and information (through third party products) on your device’s Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilising it, the time and date of your use of the app, and other statistics.
Changes to our privacy policy
We keep Our privacy notices under regular review. Changes to any of Our policies in the future will be posted on Our digital properties and, where appropriate, sent to you by e-mail notification.
